Traders Platform - Chuck Norris
BUYING TEAM
In October we started a pilot project and invited Essential Hardware store buyers to a WhatsApp group - We'd like to give you some feedback.
“Chucks” Buying Team was tasked with negotiating specials for Essential Members ONLY. These deals are submitted through the WhatsApp group, with a link through to a blog (webpage) showing the details. We’re pleased to report that the project has been a booming success for those that actively participated.
There seems to be no end to the upside when peers communicate with one another. We have also seen buyers communicating on this platform about successful deals they secured themselves and requesting Chuck’s Team to get the same (or better) deal for a larger group of Members. In other cases members have asked the team for specific deals for their store, resulting in a multitude of other members stating they too would benefit from the same request.
Some stores are benefitting from one another, by being able to have a long-distance order fulfilled by another member closer to the delivery point - Both members get the win.
Feedback - to improve the platform:
1. Please tell us what you want to focus on - requests made by members are often common to many members and we can negotiate even better deals when armed with this information.
2. If you are getting an excellent supplier deal for your store, share the basic information with us (no need to give us a supplier name if problematic), and we’ll attempt to get even better pricing for all Members.
3. Communicate with each other on the WhatsApp Group, you’ll be surprised at the common ground many members have.
4. If you’re working with non-listed suppliers - Ask us to source the products through a listed supplier...We’ll get to work on this wherever possible or feasible.
5. Whether you buy-in to the deals or not, let us know where we’re doing well or where we should be doing better - This feedback helps us improve the deals we negotiate.
6. Although this platform is relatively new, we’re confident that it is worth continuing based on the Millions of Rands in sales from the specials put out there.

IS YOUR STORE MAXIMISED & OPTIMISED?
These have been tough times for many retailers. Economies have lagged, consumers are conservative, and competition is tight. There are many innovative ways small and nimble businesses can add value to their products and services to grow revenue, retain and add customers, and be competitive. Heavy or persistent discounting can hurt your bottom line and risk customer loyalty. As a small independent retailer there are smarter ways to offer a unique experience that cannot be matched by larger chains or stores that are online only..
Store optimisation is achieved through a combination of factors that may be unique to each store.
